Nakhon Phanom(นครพนม)

Nakhon Phanom(นครพนม):
It is located 740 km north-east of Bangkokon the banks of the Mekong River bordering Laos. The area was long settled by Lao people and belonged to the Lan Xang kingdom.

During the centuries, Lao and other ethnic groups migrated across the Mekhong River and this is reflected in the local dialects, customs and cuisine of Nakhon Phanom. Many unique folk dances, such as the Sri Kotrabun dance, regarded as the symbol of Nakhon Phanom's long history, are still performed on special occasions.

Many ancient religious monuments can be visited and the most highly revered is Pra Thad Phanom. The sacred stupa nourishes the hearts of Nakhon Phanom’s community. People from other provinces and Laotian Buddhists make their pilgrimage to this highly venerated site to ask for blessings.
In addition, visitors can experience the unique fusion of Thai and Lao arts and culture through customs such as the Bai-Sri-Su-Kwan ceremony.

Nakhon Phanom province is renowned for its picturesque sceneries and relaxing ambiance by the Mekong River.
