Chaiyaphum(ชัยภูมิ):
Is located 342km fromBangkok. It is well known because of its beautiful flower fields. Approximately 50% of Chaiyaphum is mountains and forests, the rest is a plateau.
Most famous in the town of Chaiyaphum isPrang Ku (Ku means "cave like stupa"), the oldest religious site, built of sandstone and enshrines a Buddha image from the Dhvaravati period. Locals come to worship daily and once a year a big bathing ceremony is held during the April full moon.
Four national parks can be visited in the province. The Tat Thon National Park is in north-west of the province, featuring some scenic waterfalls and dry dipterocarp forests. The park’s biggest attraction is the Sai Thong waterfall and huge fields of Siamese Tulips, the pink "Kra Chieo'' flowers.
Similar fields can be found in Pa Hin Ngam National Park which has its name from strangely shaped big rock formations.
On the top of Landa Mountain is a high cliff called Pha Koeng where a 7 meters tall Buddha image is built in a religious park. Ban Khwao is a village well-know for its patterned hand-woven silk.
